Warrior (2011)

Warrior is a 2011 American sports action-drama film directed by Gavin O'Connor and starring Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, Nick Nolte, Jennifer Morrison, and Frank Grillo. Warrior tells the story of two estranged brothers entering a mixed martial arts tournament, and deals with the brothers' struggling relationship with each other and with their father. The film was released on September 9, 2011 to overall positive reviews.

The film opens with former U.S. Marine Staff Sgt. Tommy Riordan (Tom Hardy) visiting his father, Paddy (Nick Nolte), a former alcoholic who has become a Christian. Tommy becomes angry about his father's formerly abusive behavior, and Paddy fails to convince him that he has truly changed. The next day, Tommy enters a gym where he beats a professional fighter named Pete "Mad Dog" Grimes (Erik Apple) unconscious in less than a minute, in a fight which is filmed via a flip video camera and later uploaded to the Internet where it goes viral. Tommy asks his father to help him train for a winner-takes-all mixed martial arts tournament called Sparta, but only under the condition that they do not try to reconcile their relationship. It is later explained that Tommy enters the tournament in order to give the money he hopes to win to the widow and son of his fallen friend in the Marine Corps.

Meanwhile, Paddy's older son, Brendan Conlon (Joel Edgerton), a high school physics teacher and former UFC fighter, is struggling to financially provide for his wife Tess (Jennifer Morrison) and two daughters, and faces the possibility of his home getting foreclosed if he does not pay the bank in three months. Despite he and Tess working a total of three jobs between the two of them, Brendan risks returning to his former profession as a mixed martial arts fighter battling amateur fighters for money in order to pay the bank in time. Rumors of Brendan fighting in the ring begin spreading amongst his students, and the school, objecting to his participation in such dangerous activities, suspends him without pay. Without knowing Tommy has done so as well, Brendan also decides to enter Sparta with his old friend Frank Campana (Frank Grillo) as his trainer.

Paddy visits Brendan during this time to inform him that Tommy has returned home and in order to reconcile with his son, which he is unable to do. Brendan says he forgives Paddy for all the wrong he has done to him in the past, but that he still does not trust him. And later, after entering the tournament, Brendan discovers that Tommy has also entered. When Brendan confronts Tommy for the first time in several years, it is explained that Brendan eloped with Tess when he was sixteen years old and left the family, leaving Tommy to take care of his mother, who later fell ill and died, by himself. Tommy says that he refuses to forgive Brendan for this and leaves.

Meanwhile, the video of Tommy beating Mad Dog attracts the attention of a Marine in Iraq whose life was saved by Tommy months prior. The information and video of Tommy saving the Marine is shared with the press and Tommy becomes a national hero, gaining a massive fan base with not only viewers, but with the U.S. Marine Corps as well. Paddy tells Tommy that he is proud of him for saving the Marine's life, but Tommy gets so furious at his father that Paddy has a relapse and becomes severely drunk the next day. Tommy comforts Paddy and the two finally make peace with one another. However, things turn around when Tommy's records surface from the Marine Corps and reveal that he took absence without leave from the military after he was nearly killed by friendly fire. It is explained that Tommy took his mother's maiden name, Riordan, as his own surname in order to evade arrest for his desertion, and that police will take him into custody after the tournament is over.

Over the next few nights, Brendan and Tommy have contrasting fortunes. Tommy violently and quickly pulverizes his three hapless opponents, the third being Mad Dog, whom he disposes of within seconds. Following each victory he angrily storms out of the cage and ignores the winner's announcement. Brendan has by comparison a much tougher time, particularly in the semi final where he has to face Koba, a monstrous undefeated Russian champion. He wins his first two bouts with clever Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but in the third he is punished severely for the entirety of the first two rounds. In the third he mounts a valiant and spirited attack against his superior opponent and eventually surprises Koba with a kneebar and holds on for dear life. Koba eventually submits and Brendan shocks the world of mixed martial arts. At the end, both brothers come face-to-face with each other in final round and unleash all anger they had towards each other. The fight between the two brothers shows Tommy having the upper hand initially, taking down Brendan and punishing him with some ground-and-pound, but in the third round, the tides turn as Brendan catches Tommy with an omoplata armlock. Brendan manages to dislocate Tommy's shoulder, leaving Tommy handicapped. Brendan pleads to his brother to stop fighting, but Tommy continues to fight with one arm. In the next round Brendan traps the injured Tommy in a rear naked choke. While they both lie struggling on the mat, Brendan tearfully apologizes to Tommy and tells him that he loves him, and after a brief hesitation, Tommy taps out. The film ends with the two brothers exiting the ring, Tommy in tears with Brendan's arms around him, as their father watches them and smiles.

Final Destination 5 (2011)

Final Destination 5 is a 2011 American supernatural horror film written by Eric Heisserer and directed by Steven Quale. It is the fifth installment in the Final Destination film franchise and stars Nicholas D'Agosto, Emma Bell, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner, and Tony Todd. The motion picture's world premiere was August 4, 2011 at the Fantasia Festival in Montreal, Canada. It was released in Real D 3D and digital IMAX 3D. Sam Lawton (Nicholas D'Agosto), is on his way to a company retreat with his coworkers. While crossing the North Bay Bridge, Sam suffers a premonition that the bridge will collapse, killing everyone and himself. Panicked, he persuades his girlfriend Molly Harper (Emma Bell), his friends Peter Freidkin (Miles Fisher) and Nathan Sears (Arlen Escarpeta), Peter's girlfriend Candice Hooper (Ellen Wroe), his boss Dennis Lapman (David Koechner), Candice's rival Olivia Castle (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and coworker Isaac Palmer (P.J. Byrne) to leave the bridge before it collapses. Following the memorial service, local coroner William Bludworth (Tony Todd) mysteriously warns the survivors that they cheated Death. They ignore his warnings and move on with their lives. Later, Candice goes to gymnastics practice with Peter, but a chain reaction causes her to fall off the highbars and snap her spine. The next day, Isaac is killed when his head is crushed by a falling Buddha statue during an acupuncture session at a Chinese spa. Bludworth, who has been present for both deaths so far, tells the remaining survivors that if they wish to cheat Death, they must kill someone who was never meant to die on the bridge, and thereby claim their remaining lifespan. Sam and Molly suspect that Olivia, who has gone for laser eye surgery, is next and that she's in danger. They arrive at the clinic but are too late to see her fall to her death from a window onto a car's windshield. Later, after Sam and Molly studied Death's design, they notice that Nathan is next on Death's list. Meanwhile, Nathan, who has returned to the plant, accidentally kills his antagonistic co-worker Roy Carson (Brent Stait) during an argument between the two when he shoves him in the path of a hook, impaling his head. Nathan relays this information to the remaining survivors, who suggest that it means Nathan was successfully able to claim Roy's remaining lifespan and thus was skipped over. When Dennis arrives to question Nathan about the incident, he is suddenly killed when a stray wrench is launched by a belt sander and penetrated through his head. That evening, Sam's mentor allows him to become an apprentice in Paris. He allows Sam to have the restaurant to himself for a date with Molly. Peter, who has now been driven paranoid and insane by Candice's death, interrupts the date in order to inform them that he nearly pushed a stranger in front of a truck after convincing himself that he would be able to kill someone else in order to take their lifespan; subsequently, he has decided to kill Molly and take her remaining lifespan for himself. After drawing a gun and firing shots, Sam and Molly both escape to the restaurant's kitchen. Nearby outside, Agent Block (Courtney B. Vance) overhears the shots and enters the restaurant. He arrives during the confrontation, but is shot and killed by Peter. Believing he is now safe from Death for taking Block's lifespan, he decides to kill both Molly and Sam to remove any witnesses. After some struggling, Sam kills Peter with a meat spit before he can harm Molly. Two weeks later, Sam and Molly are boarding a plane to Paris. As they are taking their seats, a fight breaks out between two passengers, revealed to be Carter Horton and Alex Browning. Resulting their removal at the plane with the others. The plane that Sam and Molly are boarding was revealed to be Flight 180. The plane starts to break apart in mid-air, but realizing they are too late to save themselves, both are killed in the resulting accident. Meanwhile, at Roy's memorial, Nathan learns from a co-worker that Roy had a brain aneurysm that doctors said could have killed him at any moment. As Nathan realizes the repercussions of this information, the landing gear from Flight 180 crashes through the roof of the building and crushes him.

Limitless (2011)

Limitless is a 2011 thriller film directed by Neil Burger and starring Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish, and Robert De Niro. It is based on the 2001 novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn with the screenplay by Leslie Dixon. The film was released on March 18, 2011. Edward "Eddie" Morra (Bradley Cooper) is a writer who lives in New York City. He has recently been dumped by his girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish) in addition to failing to meet the deadline to turn in his new book, which he hasn't started yet. One day, Eddie comes across Vernon Gant (Johnny Whitworth), the brother of his ex-wife, Melissa Gant (Anna Friel). Vernon is a drug dealer, and he offers Eddie a sample of a new (fictional) nootropic drug, NZT-48, claiming it allows humans to access 100% of the brain's power, as opposed to the "normal" 20%. Eddie accepts, and, much to his surprise, the drug does indeed work, putting him into a manic state, and enabling him to write the first 90 pages to his book, exciting his publisher. Eddie asks for more of the drug, but when Vernon asks him to go pick up his dry cleaning, he returns to find Vernon murdered and his apartment ransacked. Eddie calls the police and deduces that Vernon was probably killed by someone who wanted his stash of NZT. He finds the drugs, his address book, and a wad of cash just before the police arrive. Regularly taking NZT, and using Vernon's cash, he turns his life around. After finishing his book he focuses on trading stocks, initially financed with a $100,000 loan from a Russian mafia thug, Gennady (Andrew Howard). Eddie gets back together with Lindy. He starts increasing his dose of NZT while he turns his loan into more than $2million in just a few days. His fame hits the news, but he notices he is followed by a man in a tan coat (Tomas Arana). His successful trading gets him a meeting with powerful businessman, Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro). Van Loon gives him an assignment to research overnight, but the higher dose of NZT is causing side effects including lost time, frenetic activity, and hallucinations. Eddie goes on a drinking and partying binge, and ends up in a hotel room with a striking blond (Caroline Winberg). He is followed there by the man in the tan coat. Eddie wakes up just prior to his meeting with Van Loon, and realizes he has no more NZT at his house. He hasn't looked at the assignment, but goes to the meeting anyway. Van Loon wants to force a merger with a competitor, Hank Atwood (Richard Bekins), and can't figure out how the head of the merger target could come from out of nowhere to be a viable partner in just 2 years. Just as Eddie begins to realize that Atwood may be on NZT too, a news flash appears on a TV screen showing that the woman Eddie was out with the evening before was murdered. Eddie was feeling sick after his binge, and is even sicker now. His ex-wife calls him and tells him she suspects he is on NZT. He pleads for a face-to-face meeting, but Melissa is reluctant. He wants to learn more about the side effects of the drug, so he starts calling the names in Vernon's address book. He discovers that everyone listed is either dead, or in the hospital sick. While calling one of the names, he hears a phone ring, and a person sitting close by answering. It is the man in the tan coat. He chases Eddie, who escapes and meets with Melissa. Melissa explains that the drug makes you very sick, especially if you try to go off it cold turkey. She quit 2 years earlier, and felt she was lucky to be alive, but has lost her ability to concentrate, and has become lazy. She tells him the best way is to ease off gradually, reducing the dosage over time. Eddie finds a pill in his pocket, and heads home to take it, but is aprehended by the Russian, Gennady, looking for his money. Gennady notices the pill, and takes it. Eddie gets his money from the bank, and the Russian tells him that it makes him feel very good. Eddie is getting sicker as he goes through withdrawal, and stumbles into Lindy's office. He tells her about the drug, and that he has hidden his stash at her apartment. Seeing how sick he is, she agrees to retrieve his stash and return it to him at her office. On her way back to Eddie, Lindy is intercepted en route by the man in the tan coat. It becomes obvious that he is dangerous, as he gives chase to Lindy, killing two men trying to help her as she flees. By phone, Eddie convinces her to take a pill as it will enable her to know what to do to survive. Doing so, Lindy makes a bold escape. Though Eddie is saved, Lindy is convinced that he will destroy himself because of NZT and breaks up with him again. The Russian enforcer realizes the effects the drug has and threatens Eddie until he agrees to give him more NZT. Because of Melissa's warnings, Eddie manages his consumption of the drug down to an acceptable level, and uses his fortune to hire bodyguards, and recruits a scientist to work on reverse engineering NZT. Meanwhile, he reconnects with Van Loon to assist with the merger deal. While planning the merger, Eddie is told he is a suspect for the murder of the blonde. He hires a top lawyer, Morris Brandt (Ned Eisenberg). Morris tells him that the room was wiped of finger prints, and there is no real evidence against him. Negotiations on the merger go well, but Eddie notices how frail Atwood is. Van Loon tells Eddie that he will be paid $40 million if the deal closes. Eddie purchases a well fortified "bunker" penthouse. At the meeting to close the merger deal, Atwood is late. His wife shows up, and says he would complete the deal, but is in a coma in the hospital. Her chauffeur is the man in the tan coat. He had been looking to get NZT for Atwood, thus confirming how he accomplished his meteoric rise. Next, Eddie is met by his lawyer, and stands in a lineup for the murder. He is not identified. He had to pass his custom tailored suit jacket to the lawyer while he was in the lineup. When Eddie goes to take another pill, he realizes that the lawyer has lifted his stash of pills that were in a hidden pocket. To make matters worse, Van Loon accuses him of leaking the merger story to the press, and he has the hands of his bodyguards delivered to him in a box while he is meeting with Van Loon. He heads home to his bunker, and while trying to figure out what is going on, he sees Morris Brandt, his lawyer, on the television, acting as Atwood's lawyer. The Russians break down the door to his apartment, looking for the NZT. Gennady explains that he is no longer ingesting the pills, but instead dissolves them in water, and injects them. The effects hit faster, and last longer. While the Russian's associates are searching the apartment, Eddie is able to stab Gennady. He is desperate for a hit as he lays beside the bleeding man. All he can do is drink the blood that is pooling beside him. Revitalized, he stabs one of the thugs in the eye, and tricks him into shooting the other. Atwood dies at the hospital, Brandt having kept the NZT for himself. Eddie tells the man in the tan coat that Brandt has caused his boss to die, and gets his help retrieving his stolen NZT at Brandt's house. One year later, Eddie's book has been published (titled Illuminating the Dark Fields, a reference to the novel on which the film is based), and Eddie is running for the United States Senate. In the midst of his campaign, Carl Van Loon approaches Eddie with the revelation that he has bought the company secretly producing NZT and that the backroom lab Eddie was financing has been shut down. Carl offers him an unlimited supply of NZT (admitting that they both know he is headed for Presidency); however, Eddie must use his political position to push Carl's agenda in return. Eddie refuses, claiming that he no longer needs the drug, apparently having had the foresight to have multiple labs working on the NZT, refining it so that he could quit it without experiencing side effects, while permanently retaining its mental enhancements. By touching Van Loon's chest, Eddie can tell that he has a serious cardiac problem. Van Loon looks stunned. Eddie lets him know that with his enhanced thinking, he is already 50 moves ahead of Van Loon, having thought of every contingency, which wraps up their relationship. The movie ends with Eddie meeting Lindy for lunch at a Chinese restaurant, their relationship apparently renewed. When the waiter walks by, Eddie stops him and orders in Mandarin. Lindy looks at him, surprised, and Eddie asks (with a mischievous smile), "What?"

Chala Mussaddi Office Office (2011)

In this movie Mussaddi Lal (Pankaj Kapoor) is a retired school teacher goes on a 3 month pilgrimage after his wife’s death. When he returns, he finds his pension has been stopped and the pension office has declared him dead. What follows is his endless struggle against the petty corruption in the government office where the infamous gang of five — Manoj Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Deven Bhojani, Hemant Pandey and Asawari Joshi — are determined to fleece him till the very end.

Movie Review: The drama has already gained immense popularity through the long-running television series Office Office and Mussaddi Lal’s archetypal common man has become a familiar figure in popular culture. In the celluloid version, Pankaj Kapoor once again proves what a fine actor he is as he carries forth the relentless struggle of the aam Indian against India’s endemic bribe culture and official apathy.

The retired school teacher wages a little war almost every day, be it getting his wife treated in a hospital, offering prayers for her salvation, undertaking a simple train journey or trying to prove he’s alive before a bunch of corrupt employees in a government office. But the inspirational part of the story lies in the fact that Mussaddi never gives up hope, nor does he succumb to the pressures of the system. There, before India Gate — where else — he vows to wage a lone battle against corruption and get his due by honest means.

The good news is Mussaddi isn’t alone anymore. The Anna brigade is firmly behind him.

Bubble Gum (2011)

Bubble Gum 2011 Hindi Movie Review:
Rating **

Right at the interval, the director came at the press show stating that his film Bubble Gum isn’t a children film meant for kids. It’s a film that will appeal to people of all age groups. However, the point remains that with no publicity or any sorts and no face value to the product, his message may fade away in no time. After repeated big budget, big star cast films gracing the cinema halls week on week comes this week that has only the small budget films making it to the theatres. One such among the others is Bubble Gum. Now whether this small film has content enough to pull the masses or not remains to be seen.

Set in the times of 1980s in Jamshedpur when there was no computer, internet chatting, long telephonic conversations, mobile, Bubble Gum is the story of Vedant (Sohail Lakhani), a boy who finding it difficult to deal with his teens. He falls head over heels for a colony girl Jenny (Apoorva Arora) but he also has his rival Ratan (Suraj Singh) who too has the hots for the same girl. During this time Vedant’s brother Vidhur (Delzad Hiravali) comes from his hostel to spend the holidays with his family. Vidhur is a deaf and mute teenager who tries really hard to build a bond with his unruly brother but Vedant considers Vidhur a liability and object of ridicule more than his brother. How the bond between the two brother increases and how Vedant wins over Jenny is what forms the rest of the story.

Bubble Gum definitely isn’t a children film. It talks of the times and challenges we all have gone through in our lives. The days when a small clash with a friend would mean the end of the world, when not getting pocket money was the biggest punishment or even the times when you starting looking at people of the opposite sex from a different viewpoint. Yes, these are the things that this film takes us through. Debutante director Sanjeevan Lal sets the mood of the film just right by establishing the times of the 80s in a small town when there were no Blackberry Messengers, no chat rooms, no Play stations and definitely no mobile phones. The situations he presents onscreen actually remind you of your adolescence. It even has the bitter-sweet clashes between siblings, between parents and children, between friends. It has people using the right accent, the film having the right setting, great detailing right from the type of telephone to the cooker to the parties celebrated by kids, to the love letters.

However, what Bubble Gum misses out on is the correct execution or as people call it, the midas touch. Courtesy a novice attempt, the film fails to establish an emotional connect in the situations when it needs the most. So you don’t feel empathetic for the deaf and mute child. Nor do you feel for the growing up challenges of Vedant. Instead of sticking to the plot and developing it, the director has his film going all over the place with varied situations needless. Had it been for a crisp editing, Bubble Gum could’ve been a delightful watch, but it fails even at that. Music of the film by multiple composers like Hanif Sheikh, Bapi and Tutul is disappointing. Sachin Khedekar and Tanvi Azmi as the parents of Vidhur and Vedant act very well. The two most sorted performances. Sohail delivers a decent performance while Delzad deserves a special mention. For a person deaf and dumb in real life, Delzad does an outstanding job.

To sum it up, Bubble Gum is a small film with a big heart but loses itself for amateurish efforts.

Warning (2011)

If there’s any film that can define unattainable lows it has to be Aagaah The Warning. It’s certainly not easy to make a good film; a lot of efforts are put into it. But it’s amusing to see the efforts put behind to make a cult bad film such as this.

Merging terrorism and horror, Warning is about a Jihadi Azaan Khan (Atul Kulkarni) who’s instilled with the fact that if he dies fighting for his nation he will go to heaven. So he takes up the task of attacking Mumbai and approaches the city via the sea route. The boat that they hijack belongs to an innocent boatman Ramsharan (Karan Razdan) who curses Azaan while dying. So whether it’s the curse of Ramsharan or his own wrong doings, Azaan turns into a spirit and keeps haunting the family of Ramsharan which includes his wife (Rituparna Sen Gupta), his mother (Ila Arun), father (Satish Kaushik) and his daughter (Jannat) only to convey a very important message. Now we cannot reveal that message and take away your fun. So dare to watch it yourself.

I understand that theirs a dearth of plots in horror genre in our nation. I also understand that yearning for which we derive “inspiration” from Korean or Hollywood cinema. But no reason can justify the crime committed by penning a story of Warning. The film is very conveniently divided into two parts, terrorism cum patriotism and horror so while you think of entering into a horror film, the initial first half cheats you with story meandering into terrorist attacks, training camps, jihaad blah blah blah. It’s the second half that has the spooky element with one of the most bizarre connections ever. It is shoddy, amateurish and increasingly annoying to be watching the wrong setting, wrong premise, wrong characterisation and worst still, wrong execution of the wrong doings for a good 2 hours. If there’s anything that’s worth looking out for in this film it surely would be the unintentional humour that you can opt for if you plan to have a gala time with your bunch of friends. But with the multiplex prices touching the sky, I cannot assure you that even this can be a reason good enough to watch this film.

To add to the agony you have the constant hamming of the actors where the director Karan Razdan himself tops the list. He stutters and hams as seen never before in Indian cinema. The effects are very vintage with even the Ramsay brothers doing it better. Music by Sachin Gupta only adds to the agony.

Gandhi to Hitler(2011)

Dear Friend Hitler (Hindi: प्रिय मित्र हिटलर) released in India as Gandhi to Hitler is a multilingual Indian drama film based on letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to the leader of the Nazi Party and Chancellor of Germany Adolf Hitler. The film, starring Raghubir Yadav as Adolf Hitler and Neha Dhupia as Eva Braun, is directed by debuting director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and produced by Anil Kumar Sharma under the production house Amrapali media vision. It is a first Indian film which featured the life of Hitler and perhaps the first which has adapted a foreign subject. The film's subject caused some controversies, but its promo was screened at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival where it received positive reviews. Film Business Asia quoted that "despite the provocative title, the film is not a tribute to the murderous Führer". The film is schedule to release on July 29, 2011 in India.

The film is set during World War II and centres around the letters written by Mahatma Gandhi (played by Avijit Dutt) to Adolf Hitler (Raghubir Yadav), and around the relationship of Hitler with his long-term lover Eva Braun (Neha Dhupia), whom he married in his final days in the Berlin bunker in which they died. The film depicts the difference between the ideologies of Gandhi and Hitler and establishes the superiority of Gandhism over Nazism.

Ticking Clock (2011)

Ticking Clock is a 2011 psychological suspense film starring Cuba Gooding Jr. and directed by Ernie Barbarash. Filming took place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Barbarash had previously directed Gooding Jr. in Hardwired.

The movie opens outside a rundown suburban house, we see the house number 633 on the front porch post. Inside the house a woman is seen viciously murdered and partially dissected in the bath tub. As the killer (Neal McDonough) washes his hands a large knife can be seen in the sink and the killer holds a small pen shaped device that sparks similar to a tazer. Nearby a baby starts to cry. The killer approaches the baby. Despite the savagery of his attack on the woman he is surprisingly gentle with the baby, comforting him and say “she can't hurt you anymore”.

The movie jumps forward 11 years. Investigative reporter Lewis Hicks (Cuba Gooding, Jr.) is struggling with a failing marriage with his wife Gina (Danielle Nicolet); an dubious relationship with short time girlfriend, District Attorney Felecia Carson (Veronica Berry) and a slumping career. When Hicks pays a surprise visit to Felecia she becomes upset when she sees is is still wearing his wedding band. She tells him she is ending the relationship due to his unwillingness to make a commitment.

Later that day the same killer from the opening scene attacks Felecia in her home, expressing anger over a case she was involved in concerning a child being abused. Felecia asks the killer if he is the boy's father and he states “No, I am his guardian angel”. Lewis arrives at Felecia's home but she is already dead and partially dissected similar to the woman in the opening scene. Lewis spots the killer and chases him into an alley where they fight. Lewis is knocked down but the killer drops a book. The killer is seen checking a pocket watch then disappears. Lewis finds the book, which he discovers to be the killer's journal. Lewis takes the journal home and reads about Felecia's killing, as well as 2 more murders that the killer plans within the next 72 hours. He writes the other two names down, but the killer arrives inexplicably at his home and takes the journal back as well as the sheet of paper with the other two names.

Lewis tries to explain to the police investigating Felecia's murder but the lead detective (played by Yancey Arias) doesn't believe him and actually suspects Lewis of the killing. Lewis discovers that he can read the names of the other two women due to the impression left by the pen on the second sheet. He tracks down the second woman, School teacher Vicki Ihrling (Adrianne Frost). He wants to keep an eye on her and pretends to ask her for a date, but she changes her mind instead going to a local bar. At the bar she is approached by the killer. As they make small talk she tells him she is a teacher, he states he knows one of her former students, an orphan boy that was returned to a boys' home after a teacher at the school reported him for abusing a stray cat. Vicki becomes nervous when she realizes she is the teacher that made and report and excuses herself to the restroom. Is the restroom she is attacked by the killer who angrily states “It was just a mangy little stray that no one would have missed”. Lewis is able to trace Vicki to the bar but again arrives too late to find her murdered also.

The police still doubt his story about the killer, Lewis' only evidence is a small piece of the killer's coat torn off during the earlier fight and a bloody fingerprint on a newspaper clipping. He sends both to a friend at a local crime lab. When he follows up she tell him the preliminary results from the DNA test on the blood only show one result. An 11-year old orphan living in a local boys' home. She also shows him that the fabric of the coat reacts to heat, a quality she has never seen before in a fabric.

Believing that the killer may be a relative of the boy Lewis goes to the home and introduces himself to the director Polly (Nicki Aycox) as a mentor for big brother program; asking to meet the boy. Polly seems hesitant as the boy has had behavioral problem and been returned by several foster families, but agrees to let Lewis meet him. She introduces Lewis to the orphan, James Keech (Austin Abrams). James seems to distrust all adults and especially dislikes the nuns at the home (whom he referrers to as 'the penguins') and is at first unreceptive to Lewis but agrees to go to the zoo. At the zoo Lewis asks James what he would like to be when he grows up, James seems unsure, but says he is good with math and would like to be an inventor, maybe even making a time machine so he could go back and fix his life. Back at the home James tells Lewis he wants to show him something, promising him to secrecy. Lewis promises and James shows him his 'private zoo'; a box with several small animals, including a mouse, a frog and a dragonfly that are all dead and partially dissected. Lewis is shocked and James becomes very upset, yelling at him to leave. Polly hears the yelling and comes into the dorm where James angrily accuses Lewis of trying to molest him. Polly does not believe the accusation as James has a history of making similar claims. Lewis starts to tells Polly about the dead animals but James angrily shouts that he promised not to tell. Lewis decides not to say anything and leaves.

As Lewis continues to try to stop the killer he tries to find the third woman from the journal. The evidence leads him back to the boys' home. While talking to Polly he sees her college degree on the wall and realizes she is the third woman on the killer's list, with Polly being a nickname. Lewis deduces that the killer is not a relative of James but rather James himself, having traveled back from the future to 'fix his life'. At the police station he tries to explain but the police do not believe him, still convinced he is the killer. The actual killer arrives pretending to be Lewis' lawyer. During a private conference the killer reveals to Lewis that his theory is correct, showing Lewis the pocket watch from the alley revealing it to actually be a time machine, and that he is James from the year 2032 coming back to fix his life. James uses the time machine to transport Lewis and himself to the boys' home, where he has Polly tied up on the roof.

Keech demands Lewis goes to get the younger James, threatening to kill Polly if he doesn't. Lewis quietly enters the dorm and prepares to kill the younger James hoping to set the time-line right, but can't bring himself to kill the sleeping child. Instead taking James and hiding him a restroom, and goes to the roof. Keech explains that the woman from the opening scene was his mother who was abusive so he killed her, and has been traveling time killing other people trying to set his life right. Meanwhile James leaves the bathroom follows Lewis to the roof. James sees his older self and asks Keech if he is his father, but Keech tells him the truth about being his future self. James gets upset that Keech plans to hurt Polly, stating she has been nice to him, but Keech tells James that Polly is about to find his “private zoo” and will send him to a mental hospital where his abuse continues.

While on the roof Keech reveals two more inventions, the small tazer like device from the opening scene is revealed to actually be a cutting torch, and the knife is shown to be an advanced motorized weapon with the serrated edge cycling like a chainsaw. During the struggle Keech drops the knife which James picks up and slashes Keech's leg, Keech pushes James away but accidentally knocks him off of the roof. Keech turns to kill Lewis but as James dies from the fall Keech disappears.

During the closing scenes Lewis is seen driving. Using a voice over he explains that since James died at age 11 the time line was 'made right' and he never became the serial killer. Each of the killer's victims is shown to still be alive including James himself. We see Lewis driving past the rundown house number 633 from the start of the movie which we now know to be James's mothers house. James comes out the front door to take out the trash. The movie closes with Lewis going home to his wife and son.

The Green Hornet (2011)

The Green Hornet is a 2011 superhero action-comedy film, based on the character of the same name that had originated in a 1930s radio program and has appeared in movie serials, a television series, comic books, and other media. Directed by Michel Gondry, the film stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz and Cameron Diaz.

The film was released in North America on January 14, 2011, in versions including RealD Cinema and IMAX 3D.

Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz) is a mobster who wants to control crime in L.A. He speaks with Danny "Crystal" Clear (James Franco), a crystal meth dealer and club owner in L.A. Chudnofsky asks Clear to make him the owner of his club. Clear disagrees and says that Chudnofsky is boring and not scary. Chudnofsky kills Clear's men. Before leaving, he asks what he could do to become more intimidating. After Clear gives him a suggestion, Chudnofsky leaves and bombs the club.

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the 28-year-old son of James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), publisher of the Los Angeles newspaper The Daily Sentinel. Britt is an irresponsible playboy who throws wild parties to embarrass his father, a stern disciplinarian who has always been disappointed in him. However, Britt's attitude changes when James is found dead from an allergic reaction to a bee sting. After the funeral, Britt fires the staff except for his maid and Kato (Jay Chou), James's mechanic and a skilled martial artist.

Britt and Kato get drunk together and, upon agreeing that they both hated James, visit the graveyard to cut the head off James' memorial statue as payback. After they succeed, they see a couple being mugged and rescue them. Britt and Kato are themselves mistaken by police for criminals and chased through the streets, but Kato evades them and they return to the mansion.

Britt convinces Kato they should become crime-fighters who pose as criminals in order to infiltrate the criminal underworld, and also to prevent their enemies from using innocents against them. Kato agrees and develops a car outfitted with several gadgets and weapons, dubbed Black Beauty. Britt plans to capture Benjamin Chudnofsky, a Russian mobster who is uniting the criminal families of Los Angeles under his command, and whom his father was trying to expose. To get Chudnofsky's attention, Britt uses the Daily Sentinel as a vehicle to publish articles about a "high-profile criminal" — the Green Hornet.

Britt hires criminologist Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz) as his assistant and researcher and uses her unwitting advice to raise the Green Hornet's profile. Britt and Kato blow up several of Chudnofsky's meth labs, leaving calling cards so Chudnofsky can contact them. Throughout all this, Daily Sentinel managing editor Mike Axford (Edward James Olmos) fears this single-minded coverage will endanger Britt's life and District Attorney Frank Scanlon (David Harbour) frets over public perception that he cannot stop the Green Hornet.

Britt asks Lenore out, but she rebuffs him and instead invites Kato to dinner, making Britt jealous. Kato learns from her that mobsters often offer peace summits to rivals in order to get close enough to kill them; Britt then tells Kato that Chudnofsky has offered them such a meeting. Kato tries dissuading him, but Britt, feeling overshadowed, follows his instincts. Chudnofsky tries to kill them but Kato's quick thinking saves them.

Barely escaping to the mansion, Britt and Kato fight. Britt fires both Kato and Lenore, whom he believes to be in a relationship. Kato receives an email from Chudnofsky on the Hornet's calling-card email address, offering $1 million and half of Los Angeles if he kills Britt. Meanwhile, Britt discovers Scanlon is corrupt and that he tried to bribe James into downplaying the level of crime in the city in order to help his career.

Scanlon invites Britt to meet in a restaurant, where he reveals he murdered Britt's father. Kato arrives, and instead of killing Britt, he attacks Chudnofsky's men, allowing him and Britt — whom Chudnofsky deduces is the real Green Hornet — to escape. They head to the Daily Sentinel, where Britt intends to upload a recording of Scanlon's confession onto the Web — and belatedly discovers he did not manage to record it. Chudnofsky and his men follow the duo there and a firefight ensues. Kato ultimately stabs Chudnofsky in the eyes in self-defense and Britt guns him down. A SWAT team appears and fires at the Green Hornet and Kato, while they use the remains of their nearly demolished Black Beauty to run Scanlon out the 10th-floor window, killing him. The Green Hornet and Kato flee to Lenore's house, where she learns their secret identities and that she has been the accidental mastermind behind the Green Hornet's plots. She is furious, but nevertheless helps them hide from the police and tends to Britt's shoulder gunshot wound.

The next morning, Britt promotes Axford to editor-in-chief and stages being shot in the shoulder by Kato, further establishing the Green Hornet as a threat (and allowing Britt to get treated by professionals in a hospital). Later, the two weld James' stolen bust back onto his memorial statue. Now with Lenore to aid them, Britt and Kato vow to continue protecting the law by breaking it.
