A direct-to-video sequel, Stitch! The Movie, was released on August 26, 2003. This was followed by a television series, Lilo & Stitch: The Series, which ran from September 20, 2003 to July 29, 2006. A third and final direct-to-video sequel, Leroy & Stitch, was released on June 27, 2006 as the conclusion to the TV series.

Dr. Jumba Jookiba is put on trial by the galactic governing body for illegal genetic experiments, including his latest creation, Experiment 626: an aggressive and cunning creature that is nearly indestructible. Jumba is imprisoned while Experiment 626 is set to be exiled on a desert asteroid. However, during transport on Captain Gantu's ship, 626 manages to escape to the Planet Earth (despite having guns that are encoded with his DNA and designed to only shoot while pointed at him). The Grand Councilwoman orders Jumba to work with Agent Pleakley to recover 626 discreetly. 626 survives his escape attempt to Earth, landing on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, but is knocked unconscious by a passing truck, and is taken to an animal shelter because he is believed by the truck drivers to be a breed of dog.

After the recent death of their parents in a car accident, 19-year-old Nani Pelekai is looking after her younger, more rambunctious sister, Lilo. They are visited by Cobra Bubbles, a social worker, who is concerned that Nani cannot take adequate care of Lilo. He considers putting Lilo into foster care, but Nani is very much against this idea, as Lilo and she are the only remaining members of her family; Lilo does not help as she does not understand what may happen. After hearing Lilo in her room pray to be given a friend (Lilo has no "real" friends because every girl in her class bullies her), Nani agrees to allow Lilo to adopt a dog. At the shelter, Lilo immediately takes a keen interest in Experiment 626, despite serious misgivings that Nani and the shelter worker have about him being a dog. Lilo names 626 "Stitch," and shows him around Hawaii; Stitch quickly discovers escape is impossible as he would sink and drown past the island to the sea.

As Nani attempts to find a good job, she is forced to bring Lilo and Stitch with her. Lilo uses the time to try to curb Stitch's aggressiveness by encouraging him to behave like Elvis Presley, whom she calls a "model citizen." Stitch's antics, although at times foiling Jumba and Pleakley's attempts to capture him, also ruin Nani's chances of getting a job. David, a friend of Nani's, sees her at the beach, where she was trying to get a job as a lifeguard. David suggests they go surfing to improve her mood. While Nani, Lilo and Stitch ride on a huge wave, Jumba makes one more effort to capture Stitch from underwater; as a result, it appears as if Stitch attempted to drown Lilo. Although everyone gets safely to shore, Cobra saw the whole thing and tells Nani he will come by in the morning to take Lilo away from her. After Stitch sees how much trouble he has caused, he leaves, with Lilo saying "I'll remember you though. I remember everyone who leaves."

The next morning, as Nani waits for Cobra to arrive, David tells Nani of a job offer that she must respond to. Nani tells Lilo to stay at home while she goes to secure the job. Stitch, hiding in the nearby woods, encounters Jumba, who reveals that Stitch can never have a family or "belong" because he was just built to destroy. Stitch races to Lilo's house, followed by Jumba firing at Stitch with his gun. The two fight, Lilo quickly phoning Cobra for help. The house is ultimately destroyed by the end of the fight, with Nani and Cobra returning shortly after.

As Nani and Cobra argue over Lilo's well-being, Lilo slips away to hide in the forest and finds Stitch, who reveals his true alien form to her. While she says how he ruined everything, they are both captured by Captain Gantu, who had been sent to capture Stitch after Jumba and Pleakley failed to do so, and he makes to leave Earth. Nani is shocked to see Gantu putting Lilo and Stitch in a container pod and taking off in the ship. Stitch, however, escapes from the container before the ship takes off. Nani then realizes that Stitch isn't what she thought he was, and demands he speak, just as Lilo always said he did. While once again trying to capture Stitch, both Jumba and Pleakley are revealed to Nani, and tell her that they do know Lilo, and they can both get her back. Stitch, with help from Jumba's ship and by launching a gas tanker truck out of a volcano, is able to free Lilo and stop Gantu. After they land, they find that the Grand Councilwoman has arrived nearby, in order to capture Stitch personally. However, when she sees Stitch has learned to talk and bonded with Nani and Lilo, she realizes he has become a civilized creature. Using Lilo's certificate of Stitch's ownership as proof, which is also provided the fact that she would be stealing Stitch from Lilo, the Councilwoman asserts that Stitch is now a part of Nani and Lilo's family, and lets him live his exile on Earth with the humans as his warders. As her guards take Gantu away, she doesn't let Pleakley or Jumba return on her ship, and orders Cobra, a former CIA agent who previously met the Councilwoman at Roswell, to keep an eye on the new family. Stitch, Jumba and Pleakley become integrated into Lilo's family, and the house is rebuilt with the help of the three.

Return to Neverland (2002)

Return to Never Land (also called Peter Pan 2: Return to Never Land) is a 2002 American animated film produced by DisneyToon Studios in Sydney, Australia and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is a sequel to the 1953 film Peter Pan, based on J.M. Barrie's most famous work Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up.

During the London Blitz of World War II, Peter Pan's former playmate, Wendy Darling, has grown up and married, and has two children of her own: an 11-year-old daughter, Jane, and a 4-year-old son, Danny. Her husband, Edward, is sent to fight in the war, leaving her to raise the children by herself. She tries to keep their spirits up with stories of Peter Pan, but Jane has become cynical under the pressures of the war, belittling the stories her mother tells and unintentionally ridiculing her brother's faith in them.

Captain Hook, still seeking revenge against Peter Pan, sails through the skies on his pixie-dust-enchanted pirate ship, finds Jane sleeping by the window, and, mistaking her for Wendy, flies back to Neverland with her, to use as bait for Peter. However, his ship triggers an alarm and is mistaken for a Luftwaffe bomber, forcing Hook to escape for his life as the Germans attack London. Back in Never Land, he drops Jane into the waiting tentacles of "the beast" (a giant octopus), expecting Peter to also be devoured by it as he dives after "Wendy" to save her, along with Tinker Bell who has gotten rid of her jealousy of Wendy. However, Peter rescues Jane, and Hook is eaten instead. Though Hook manages to escape, the octopus enjoys his taste (much like Tick-Tock the Crocodile, whom he had finally managed to get rid of long before), and begins hunting him down.

Peter rescues Jane, and, upon finding she is Wendy's daughter, assumes she would like to follow in her mother's footsteps. He takes her to his home to be mother to the Lost Boys, but Jane refuses, because she is more interested in getting back home (so she can try to make amends for her cold behavior towards her brother). They try to make her have fun and to teach her to fly, but she fails because she does not believe, so Peter tries to use Tinker Bell's jealousy of Jane to help. Tink showers Jane in pixie dust, but still Jane cannot fly. Peter and the Lost Boys discover a note book of Jane's and tease her by playing Keep Away until Cubby accidentally swallows it. As the boys burst out laughing, Jane becomes angry and blurts out that she is fed up with their childish behavior. In her anger, she also says that she does not believe in fairies, which leaves Tinker Bell slowly dying. Peter tells the Lost Boys that if Jane doesn't believe, "Tink's light's gonna go out". Peter tells the boys they have to make her a part of the group but the Lost Boys complained because she is a girl but Peter convinced them to allow it for Tinkerbell's sake.

After Jane leaves them, she is approached by Hook, who tricks her with a deal. He promises to take her home and lies that he will not harm Peter, and she agrees to help him find his treasure which Peter Pan stole. He gives Jane a whistle to signal him when she locates it. The Lost Boys search for Jane and eventually Peter finds her. He apologizes for her book getting ruined and says he wants to make it up to her, so Jane suggests they play a game of "treasure hunt". Peter and the Lost Boys show her how they have fun and she begins to change her serious image and learns to have fun too. When Jane finds the treasure, she takes the whistle Hook gave her and throws it away, refusing to help him. Peter and the Lost Boys make Jane the very first Lost Girl to which she is very moved by and they celebrate. However, one of the Lost Boys finds the whistle and, not realizing what it is for, blows it. Hook and his crew arrive, and captures Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, but let Jane go as thanks for "helping" them. Despite Jane denying she wanted to help Hook in this way, Peter calls her a traitor and tells her that because she does not believe in fairies Tinker Bell is dying.

Jane rushes to the Lost Boys' home, but gets to Tinker Bell too late. Jane breaks down into tears realizing it is her fault Tinker Bell is gone and that Peter and the Lost Boys have been captured. Jane's new-found belief, however, revives Tinker Bell at the last minute. They both hurry to the Jolly Roger, where they find the Lost Boys tied up and Peter (tied to an anchor) about to walk the plank. Jane saves him, and with the help of "faith, trust, and pixie dust", she learns to fly and unties Peter, once again renewing their friendship. Hook grabs Jane, but Peter manages to save her. He also sinks the ship by sending Hook through the many floors of the ship with the anchor to which he had been tied. Hook and the pirates exit via a rowboat, pursued by the giant octopus.

Now that she can fly, Jane is able to return home to Wendy and Danny. After a tear-filled farewell to the Lost Boys, Peter and Tinker Bell escort her home, with the Lost Boys joining them for their trip. While Jane reconciles with Danny, Wendy and Peter meet again, for the first time in years. Though Peter is disappointed that she has grown up, Wendy assures him that she has not really changed. Edward returns from the army and the family is reunited. Peter Pan and Tinker Bell watch for a few seconds before they quietly fly home.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame II (2002)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame II is a 2002 direct-to-video sequel to the 1996 Disney animated film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It was produced by Walt Disney Animation Japan and released on March 19, 2002.

All returning characters retain their original voice actors with the exception of the Archdeacon who is voiced by Jim Cummings in place of David Ogden Stiers, Laverne, who is voiced by Jane Withers, replacing Mary Wickes who died during production of the first film, and Tony Jay, since Frollo died in the first film. Heidi Mollenhauer also did not return as the singing voice for Esméralda.

Several years after the original film, Captain Phoebus (Kevin Kline) and Esmeralda (Demi Moore) have married and have a son named Zephyr (Haley Joel Osment). They have started a commune. Quasimodo (Tom Hulce) is now free to interact with the public; however, he continues to live in the cathedral with his gargoyle friends Victor (Charles Kimbrough), Hugo (Jason Alexander), and Laverne (Jane Withers).

A circus of thieves, led by Sarousch (Michael McKean), enters town to steal Notre Dame's most beloved bell: La Fidèle (The Faithful), the inside of which is decorated with enormous jewels of various colors. He sends Madellaine (Jennifer Love Hewitt), his beautiful assistant, to discover the whereabouts of La Fidèle; however, she runs away after seeing Quasimodo. The gargoyles convince Quasimodo to go to the circus in an attempt to court Madellaine. Sarousch wows the audience when he makes an elephant disappear while his associates steal from the audience. Sarousch forces Madellaine to follow Quasimodo and obtain the information he wants. She follows Quasimodo and Zephyr, and after seeing how gentle Quasimodo is with Zephyr, his appearance no longer bothers her. Quasimodo takes her around Paris, and shows her numerous sights.

Meanwhile, Phoebus receives reports of robberies and sets out on his horse, Achilles, to investigate. The gargoyles and a group of people sing a song that tells about how Quasimodo and Madellaine are in love just as rain begins to fall and Quasimodo and Madellaine run into the cathedral. Madellaine dries off behind a curtain, and Quasimodo shows her La Fidèle. Quasimodo gives Madellaine a figurine he made of her, and he tells her that she can now see herself through his eyes. Tears well up in Madellaine's eyes, and after kissing Quasimodo on the forehead, she leaves.

The next day, Quasimodo feels odd; one minute he feels sick, the next he feels energetic. After he seeks Esmeralda's help, she realizes he is in love with Madellaine and tells him he must tell Madellaine of his feelings. Phoebus enters and declares that the circus is responsible for a string of thefts in which Madellaine might be implicated, which do not delight the other main characters (Quasimodo due to being in love with Madellaine, Esmeralda due to believing that Phoebus still holds prejudice views towards gypsies, and Zephyr due to admiring the circus).

Sarousch convinces Madellaine to distract Quasimodo while he steals La Fidèle, and she reluctantly agrees. Later, while Quasimodo is out with Madellaine, Sarousch and two of his subordinates sneak into the cathedral. Zephyr and Djali the goat follow them and watch as Sarousch causes La Fidèle to vanish. The gargoyles, who had tried to drop a bell on the thieves, end up trapped under it; Laverne rams one of its sides, causing the bell to clang loudly. Hearing the sound, Quasimodo and Madellaine rush back. When it is discovered that La Fidèle has been stolen, Clopin (Paul Kandel) says if they do not find the bell, the festival will be ruined. Phoebus guesses that Sarousch is responsible. He sends the soldiers all over Paris to find Sarousch. Quasimodo assumes that Madellaine has used him, and tells Phoebus that he was right and he runs back into the cathedral. Phoebus apologizes to Quasimodo and has Madellaine arrested, and after realizing that he lost his true love and can no longer trust her, Quasimodo is seen on the steps of Notre Dame feeling miserable, used, and betrayed.

Quasimodo climbs to the bell tower, hears the gargoyles calling, and pulls the bell off them. After they tell him Zephyr left to pursue Sarousch, Quasimodo and Esméralda rush to the Palace of Justice to tell Phoebus. Madellaine, who is locked in a cell, tells them Sarousch has taken the bell underground. Although Esméralda convinces her husband to trust Madellaine's word, he nevertheless binds Madellaine's hands and forces her to accompany him.

Quasimodo and the others venture into the dank catacombs. They encounter Djali, who takes them to Sarousch and Zephyr. Sarousch forces Phoebus and the guards into opening the gate to allow his raft through by using Zephyr as a hostage. Madellaine convinces Quasimodo to trust her, and the pair run up a stairwell. Quasimodo lassoes a rock to create a tightrope, and Madellaine walks across it. When the raft passes beneath her, Madellaine seizes Zephyr from Sarousch's grasp. With Sarousch robbed of his leverage, the guards advance on Sarousch and arrest him. At the festival, Quasimodo and Madellaine proclaim their love for each other and share their first kiss while Zephyr rings La Fidèle.

Kim Possible: A Sitch in Time (2003)

Disney's Kim Possible: A Sitch in Time is a 2003 American animated film about a crime-fighting high-school cheerleader who battles a band of time-traveling criminals. The film was directed by Steve Loter for the Disney Channel. It contains elements of action, comedy, and science fiction, and was created with a mix of traditional and computer-generated animation. The starring voices are Christy Carlson Romano as the title character and Will Friedle as her sidekick and best friend. This is the first feature-length film based on the Kim Possible animated television series, followed by Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama in 2005.

Kim Possible is a high-school cheerleader and world-famous crimefighter, and Ron Stoppable is her faithful sidekick. Ron has a pet naked mole rat named Rufus. The film begins at the start of a new school year, when Ron and his family move to Norway, and the villains Dr. Drakken, Shego, Duff Killigan, and Monkey Fist team up to steal the Time Monkey, a small statuette used to travel through time. With help from her computer guru Wade and her friend Monique, Kim follows the villains to Australia as they steal the body and head of the Time Monkey, but the villains connect the head to the body inside the Time Monkey's temple in Africa, and they escape through the resulting time portal.

Shortly afterward, Kim is visited by a large talking mole rat from the future, a descendent of Rufus named Rufus 3000, who gives Kim a time-travel device and explains that "The Supreme One" is preparing to take over the world. Meanwhile, Drakken, Killigan, and Monkey Fist turn themselves into little children and travel back in time to Kim's first day in preschool in order to discourage her from becoming a crimefighter. Posing as her schoolmates, the villains try to bully the four-year-old Kim, but she defeats them and makes friends with Ron, and the high-school-age Kim arrives to fight Shego, who has been observing her accomplices.

With their preschool plot foiled, the villains turn back into adults and escape forward in time, to a day when Kim and Ron are middle-school teenagers. When a billionaire traps himself in the web of deadly laser beams that guard his vault, his security expert accidentally contacts Kim through her new baby-sitting website, so, after a neighbor drives Kim and Ron to the billionaire's mansion, Kim uses her cheerleading gymnastic skills to jump through the laser beams and save the billionaire. Monkey Fist goes into the past and retrieves a huge rock gorilla, which attacks Kim, but high-school-age Kim and Ron appear, and high-school Ron destroys the rock gorilla by accidentally activating the security lasers. As police officers arrest Drakken, Killigan, and Monkey Fist, Shego escapes with the Time Monkey into the future, where she will take over the world and become The Supreme One. High-school Kim and Ron follow her, along with Rufus and Rufus 3000.
Shego as the Supreme One, dictator of the world

In the future, Shego has become dictator of the world and made everyone her slaves. Kim and Ron are captured and sent to their old high school to be brainwashed, but they are rescued by Kim's twin brothers Tim and Jim, along with Rufus 3000 and an army of naked mole rats. The twins take Kim and Ron to the secret headquarters of the political resistance movement, whose leader is Wade, and Kim, Ron, Wade, the twins, and all of the Rufuses sneak into Shego's castle, where they fight their way past the villains and an army of monkeys to the room where Shego keeps the Time Monkey.

After capturing Kim and her friends, Shego explains that she separated Kim and Ron by making money in the 1990s stock-market boom, buying the company that Ron's mother worked for, and having her transferred to Norway. Keeping Kim and Ron apart enabled her to take over the world. In his anger at having to live in Norway and the destruction of his favorite nacho restaurant, Ron throws Drakken across the room. The twins break out of their chains, the pillars that hold up the palace ceiling collapse, and the Time Monkey falls to the floor and breaks, undoing all the effects of Shego's time travel. This causes Kim, Ron, and Rufus to float through a time portal and travel back to the first scene of the film, at the end of their first school day. At the moment when the first time disturbance occurred, a wave of time distortion washes over Kim and Ron, and when the moment has passed, the world has been restored to its original state and the two teens have lost all memory of the film's events, except that Ron knows he hates meat cakes, which he was forced to eat in Norway.

101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure (2003)

101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure is a 2003 American direct-to-video animated film released by Walt Disney Home Entertainment on January 21, 2003. The film is the sequel to the 1961 Disney animated film One Hundred and One Dalmatians. The film features the voices of Martin Short, Jason Alexander, Barry Bostwick, Susanne Blakeslee, Kath Soucie, Jeff Bennett, Jim Cummings, and Bobby Lockwood. Disney re-released the film on September 16, 2008.

Roger, Anita, and their canine Clan are packing for the big move to Dalmatian Plantation, a home in the country with plenty of room for the 101 pups and far from the clutches of Cruella de Vil. The feistiest pup, Patch, feels lost in a sea of spots and longs to be a one-of-a-kind wonder dog like his TV hero, Thunderbolt. While watching the Thunderbolt Adventure Hour, Patch hears about a chance to appear on the show while it is filming in London. However, the family move will interfere with Patch's opportunity - until he's accidentally left behind in the commotion. Patch heads for the audition to meet his hero and win a guest spot on the show, but is laughed off stage for his squeaky bark.

Meanwhile, Thunderbolt's trusty sidekick, Lil' Lightning (Jason Alexander), tells Thunderbolt the producers want kill off his character and replace him with a younger dog. In order to save his job, Thunderbolt decides he will go into the real world and perform an act of true heroism to prove himself. A veritable reference book to Thunderbolt's many adventures, Patch provides the perfect guide for the TV star in his attempts at real-life heroics.

Cruella is back and more obsessed with the Dalmatians than ever. At first, she is able to calm her frenzy through an affiliation with a spot-fixated German artist named Lar. Meanwhile, Thunderbolt makes several attempts at "heroism", telling Patch he is giving him a "Junior Deputy Test" and will let him on the show if he can pass. This "test" involves Patch unwittingly giving instructions on how Thunderbolt, who has no idea how to act without a script, should save the day. Back at Thunderbolt's trailer, Lightning's true nature is revealed. Fed up with being second best, he cons the producer, desperate and frantic over Thunderbolt going AWOL, into recasting him as the hero. Cruella soon discovers that Lars, despite his best efforts, is unable to recreate the look she desires. In order to inspire him, she begins hunting for the Dalmatian puppies, but is angry to find Anita's house empty. However, using a newspaper picture of Patch, she reads their new address off his collar.

Meanwhile, Patch and Thunderbolt bond over their mutual fear of being "just another dog" and Thunderbolt begins teaching the pup how to bark properly. The family finally becomes aware that Patch is missing as Cruella posts bail for her former cronies, Horace and Jasper and sends them to the farm to steal the remaining 98 puppies. Lars becomes enamoured with the pups and is inspired to paint, but Cruella announces that he going to make a masterpiece out of puppy fur. Lars refuses, but Cruella simply ties him up and goes back to her original plan of making a puppy fur coat.

The imprisoned pups use the Twilight Bark to send an SOS, which is picked up by Patch and Thunderbolt, and the two set out to save Patch's family. Lightning is horrified when he discovers Thunderbolt might actually become a hero and hurries to the warehouse where the pups are being held. He convinces Thunderbolt not to use Patch's stealth plan but to openly attack. However Cruella shows up, knocks Thunderbolt out and locks the two in a cage. Lightning sneaks in and reveals that Thunderbolt is a fraud.

Patch is deeply hurt that Thunderbolt would lie, but soon realizes that their current situation was covered in one of the TV episodes, and manages to escape. Patch releases his family, but Thunderbolt stays in his open cage. Horace and Jasper confess to Cruella the pups are missing, but Patch tricks the trio into going downstairs while the dogs escape via the roof and get onto a bus, which they accidentally start. Cruella follows in hot pursuit as they race through the streets of London, crashing through the filming of the new "Lil' Lightning" show. Cruella finally corners the pups in an alley. Patch tries to hold off the trio as the others escape, but they are undaunted. Luckily, Thunderbolt arrives (having hitched a lift with Lars) and apologizes to Patch, claiming he is not a hero, but he can act like one. He fakes a heart attack, distracting Cruella (and managing to have her knock out Horace and Jasper) while the puppies escape before collapsing. Lightning bursts into tears at the sight of his "dead" colleague as Patch puts the bus into reverse, forcing the four bad guys into the river.

Patch and Thunderbolt survey the scene, both letting out deep, heroic barks. Lightning is arrested, along with Horace and Jasper, while Cruella, now driven completely insane, is sent to a mental institute. Pongo and Perdi arrive and tell Patch they are proud of him. Thunderbolt confesses that he is just an actor, but Patch is "a real, one of a kind wonderdog". A newspaper montage reveals the fates of the characters. Lars, using a painting Patch accidentally made by throwing paint at Horace and Jasper, finally receives credit for his "genius". Horace and Jasper open up a ladies' boutique with the slogon: "Fur Bad, Nylon Good". Roger's new song Seeing Spots becomes a smash hit, and Cruella is featured in an issue of "The Institution". A post credits scene shows Thunderbolt, with his new sidekick Patch, in his TV show, with the other pups serving as extras.

Death Sentence (2007)

Death Sentence is a 2007 crime thriller loosely based on the 1975 novel by Brian Garfield. Directed by Saw director James Wan, the film stars Kevin Bacon as Nick Hume, a man who takes the law into his own hands after his son is murdered by a gang as an initiation ritual. Hume must then protect his family from the gang's resulting vengeance. The film premiered on August 31, 2007, and was released on DVD on January 8, 2008.

Nick Hume (Kevin Bacon) is husband to Helen (Kelly Preston), and father of two boys, Brendan and Lucas. After Brendan's hockey game, Nick and Brendan (Stuart Lafferty), the star of his team, drive home talking of the oldest son's future. They make a quick stop at a gas station to refuel. During what appears to be a robbery of the gas station, Joe Darley (Matt O'Leary), younger brother to gang leader and a new initiate, slices Brendan's throat open with a machete. Nick attempts to ambush the thugs, managing to pull off Joe's mask and see his face, but Joe escapes, only to be hit by a car. Nick rushes Brendan to the hospital, but his son dies from major blood loss.

Nick soon discovers that, if the case goes to court at all, the murderer would only be sentenced to 3 to 5 years in jail for his crime, so he forces the police to drop the case. Joe, now a free man, becomes the target of Nick's revenge; he is eventually killed when Nick stabs him with a rusty knife in Joe's home. The gang leader, Billy Darley (Garrett Hedlund) wants revenge for the death of his little brother. After discounting members of other gangs as culprits they learn a gang member's sister happened to see a man in a suit the night Joe died. Quickly realizing it must be Nick, they ambush him the next day, atop a multi-story car park. Nick escapes, but takes another gang member's life in the process. Billy warns Nick that they will be coming for his family and that he has bought them a 'death sentence.'

The police detective who's been following Nick's case, Detective Jessica Wallis (Aisha Tyler), is aware of what is happening: She grants Nick's family police protection and has a callout to Billy's gang. The officers watching over the family are killed in an ensuing raid, and the gang members make their way inside, where they attack and shoot at Nick, his wife Helen, and his remaining son Luke (Jordan Garrett).

Nick and Luke survive, but Helen does not (although this situation with Helen was not shown to the viewers). After Detective Wallis gives a brief speech on how wars are never settled, she lets Nick pay a short visit to his now-comatose son in the hospital, where he apologizes for not being a better father. Nick leaves the hospital to go after the remaining gang members obtaining guns from a black market gun dealer named Bones Darley (John Goodman) (who has been the gang's boss up to this point, and is revealed to be Billy's father whom Billy kills after he criticizes and warns him) and heads to Billy's lair, called "The Office" to kill the remainder of the gang. He soon confronts and shoots Billy in a quick duel which leaves both men seriously wounded. Dying of his wounds, Billy admits to Nick that he did, in fact, turn Nick into a vicious cold-blooded killer just like him. After this, Nick pulls out one of his guns and asks if Billy's "ready," (indicating to the viewer that he finishes Billy off although this is not shown).

With his family now avenged, Nick returns home and starts to watch the videos of his family. Detective Wallis arrives and tells him that his son has started moving and will live. Nick shows a sign of relief and looks back to the TV which shows Luke, Helen, Nick and Brendan singing on the couch. Nick is seriously wounded at this point, and it is unclear if he survives in the end.

The School of Rock (2003)

School of Rock, also called The School of Rock, is a 2003 American musical comedy film directed by Richard Linklater, written by Mike White, and starring Jack Black. The main plot follows rock singer and guitarist, Dewey Finn (portrayed by Black), who was unanimously kicked out of his band and subsequently disguises himself as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school and forms a band of fifth-grade students to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands so he can pay his rent for his apartment.

Dewey Finn, a rock singer and guitarist, is unanimously kicked out of his band No Vacancy by his bandmates for his arrogance and frequent hyperactive stage antics. His submissive roommate and lifelong friend Ned Schneebly (writer Mike White), a substitute teacher, is pressured by his girlfriend Patty Di Marco (Sarah Silverman) to evict Dewey unless he "gets a real job" and pay off his growing rent debt, which he only promises to do out of sympathy to Ned because of his fear of never getting another girlfriend. Dewey feels forced to give up his passion until he receives a phone call intended for Ned from Rosalie Mullins (Joan Cusack), principal of Horace Green, a prestigious prep school in Woodbury, New York, asking Ned to fill in for a teacher who would be out for several weeks due to a broken leg. Desperate for income to avoid getting evicted, Dewey pretends to be Ned and takes the job as a substitute teacher for the fifth-grade class.

Dewey has no real idea how to carry out his role as a teacher, and instead simply gives his students constant free time. He requests that they simply call him "Mr. S." after attempting to write Ned's name on the board but being unable to spell "Schneebly." However, when Dewey overhears his pupils playing in music class, he realizes that the children of his class are musically talented. He decides to turn his temporary job into what he tells them is a special class project, but is actually a personal one: to turn a classroom full of kids into a rock band and crew, which will serve as a vehicle to stardom, ultimately to win the upcoming Battle of the Bands, where he is out to avenge his eviction from his old band and win the $20,000 prize. After realizing that the kids are mostly interested in pop and hip hop music, Dewey turns the school days into lessons of rock history and music playing, exposing his students to those artists he regards as rock legends. Many rock legends are featured in classic photos and footage during a montage scene, including Led Zeppelin, Ramones, Jimi Hendrix, Iggy Pop, The Who, Angus Young, The Clash, Nirvana, AC/DC and Black Sabbath; and on the green chalk board he points to The Kinks in a section marked British Invasion.

Dewey narrowly escapes detection when Ms. Mullins decides to attend one of his class's lessons to check on their progress, forcing him to actually teach the official course material. Dewey attempts to revive any old love for rock he finds in her, having found out that she likes Stevie Nicks and playing her song "Edge of Seventeen" on a jukebox. The two develop a close friendship after this. Meanwhile, the class audition for the Battle of the Bands, which Dewey told them was their "school project". They are turned back because they show up too late. With the help of class factotum and band manager Summer Hathaway (Miranda Cosgrove), Dewey persuades the Battle's managers by lying that the students are all terminally ill with "stick-it-to-da-man-ni-osis", a fictional rare blood disease, and out of compassion, they allow the students to perform in the Battle of the Bands.

However, later that day, Dewey (who had requested on multiple occasions that he be paid in cash) is exposed when Ned receives a paycheck from Horace Green in the mail, even though he has never actually worked there. During the parent-teacher night later on, Dewey meets the students' parents, who initially seem very suspicious of his ability to teach their children. Dewey succeeds in convincing them that he is a competent teacher, but Ned appears and confronts Dewey (due almost entirely to his girlfriend's persuasion). His real identity is revealed, and he is sacked. Considering himself a failure, he falls into depression, and Ned sadly informs him that it may be time he moved out. The next day, at Horace Green, the class decide that, even if Dewey and the project was fake, they have still put too much work in to not do the final show at Battle of the Bands, and so leave for the concert, stopping on the way to persuade Dewey to join them. Realizing what has happened, Ned finally stands up to his girlfriend and leaves her to watch the concert.

At the competition, the band plays "School of Rock", a song written by their lead guitarist Zack Mooneyham (Joey Gaydos), instead of Dewey's "The Legend of The Rent". Despite the strong reception from the audience (including Ms. Mullins and the students' parents, who thought Dewey abducted the kids), the class loses to Dewey's ex-band No Vacancy, but accept their defeat due to Dewey saying that they weren't here to win and that they were going to play "one great show". The audience, however, becomes angered by No Vacancy's victory and call for School of Rock to come back on stage. The band goes for an encore, playing "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" by AC/DC with an altered ending. During the closing credits, Summer is seen arguing a deal over her cell phone as she enters the "School of Rock", a newly opened after-school program where Dewey continues to coach the class and Ned teaches the younger ones, and the credits roll as the class sings "The movie is over, but we're still on screen," breaking the fourth wall.

Solaris (2002)

Solaris is a 2002 science fiction film directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring George Clooney. It is based on the science fiction novel by Polish writer Stanisław Lem, which also inspired the critically acclaimed 1972 Soviet film of the same name, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, and a 1968 TV film. Chris Kelvin is played by George Clooney, and Rheya by Natascha McElhone. Borrowing heavily from the Tarkovsky film, this version of Solaris is a meditative psychodrama set almost entirely on a space station orbiting Solaris, adding flashbacks to the previous experiences of its main characters on Earth. Chris struggles with the questions of Solaris' motivation, his beliefs and memories, and reconciling what was lost with an opportunity for a second chance.

Clinical psychologist Dr. Chris Kelvin (George Clooney) is approached by emissaries for DBA, a corporation operating a space station orbiting the planet Solaris, who relay a message sent from his scientist friend Dr. Gibarian (Ulrich Tukur). Gibarian requests Chris come to the station to help understand an unusual phenomenon, but is unwilling to explain the exact nature. DBA is unsure how to proceed, as the mission to study Solaris has been sidetracked and none of the astronauts want to return home. In addition, DBA has lost contact with the security patrol recently dispatched to the station. Chris agrees to a solo mission to go to Solaris as a last attempt to recover the crew.

Upon arriving at the space station, Chris learns that Gibarian has committed suicide and most of the crew have either died or disappeared under bizarre circumstances. Both surviving crew members, Snow (Jeremy Davies) and Dr. Gordon (Viola Davis), are reluctant to explain the situation at hand. Alone in his crew quarters, Chris dreams about his dead wife Rheya (Natascha McElhone)—reliving when they first met and some of their most romantic and intimate moments. He awakens shocked and terrified to encounter Rheya alive again beside him in bed and leads her into an escape pod and jettisons it into space. Chris confides his actions to Snow and comes to understand that replicas of the crew's loved ones have been mysteriously appearing. When Rheya manifests a second time Chris lets her stay, but she admits she doesn't feel human; her memories feel artificial, in that she lacks the emotional attachment that comes with actually having lived them.

Chris, Rheya, Snow and Gordon meet to discuss the situation and Gordon informs Rheya what Chris did to her previous replica. Rheya leaves the meeting horrified and Chris confronts Gordon, who in turn chastises him for getting emotionally involved with something that isn't real and may pose a threat to human beings. Later, during a dream, Chris questions a replica of Gibarian as to what Solaris' motives are for providing the manifestations, but is told "there are no solutions, only choices." Chris wakes to find Rheya dead, having committed suicide by drinking liquid oxygen and, in front of Gordon and Snow, Chris wills her back to a restored state. Gordon reveals that she has an apparatus which can permanently destroy a replica but Chris objects to using it on Rheya. He begins ingesting a chemical stimulant to stay awake in order to monitor Rheya. Chris eventually falls asleep and Rheya approaches Gordon who destroys her with the apparatus as she has done for all replicas who have requested her to do so. Chris confronts Gordon who maintains she merely facilitated in assisted suicide and in her xenophobia she only wants the preservation of the humans.

Chris and Gordon then discover the body of Snow stashed away in a ceiling vent and realize that the Snow they have been interacting with is a replica. Snow admits to being a replica and explains that upon being dreamed into existence, he was attacked by his creator and thus killed the 'original Snow' in self-defense. The Snow replica tells them that repeat usage of the apparatus has drained the ship's fuel cell reactor, making a return trip to Earth impossible. Furthermore, Solaris has reacted to the behavior of the humans by increasing its mass, thereby gravitationally pulling the space station toward the planet. Gordon and Chris begin prepping a smaller space vehicle called Athena to escape.

Chris is shown pondering his experiences from the space station back on Earth, discontentedly concluding that the reason Rheya's replica wanted to die was because he "remembered her wrong"—as suicidal. One day he cuts his finger while chopping vegetables in his kitchen, but the wound immediately regenerates, just as Rheya's replica once did. Then Rheya appears, declaring that they transcend life and death and that all they've done to each other is forgiven. This suggests that Chris isn't really on Earth, or that what's on Earth isn't really Chris. Chris never actually leaves the space station with Gordon: he sends her off alone and stays behind to plummet into Solaris.

East Wind, Rain (2010)

Shanghai, December 1941. Communist spy An Ming (Liu Yunlong), working as a nightclub pianist in the city's International Settlement, learns from his Japanese source, South Manchuria Railway local manager Nakanishi Masahiro (Miura Kenichi), a fellow communist, that Japan is to attack Pearl Harbor. However, following the assassination of two members of his unit, An has no way of transmitting the unbelievable information to his superiors. Nakanishi subsequently receives confirmation of the attack in a coded weather broadcast on Japanese radio ("East wind, rain") and also hears that a roll of film containing major information is secretly on its way to him from a fellow high-placed sympathiser, Ozaki Hidemi (Dong Cheng), in Tokyo. On the night of 7 December, Nakanishi is arrested, the roll of film goes missing, and the Japanese declare war on the U.S., next day taking over the whole city. In the subsequent weeks, a battle of wits ensues between Japanese intelligence head Fujiki Yoshio (Takemoto Takayuki) and An and his colleague Hao Birou (Li Xiaoran), a teacher at a refugee hostel, as both sides try to trace the roll of film. An also comes under pressure from his new liaison officer, Fang Qianmo (Yu Rongguang), and from his girlfriend, nighclub singer Huanyan (Fan Bingbing), to leave Shanghai, but he refuses until his job is done.

Review:

If the characters in East Wind Rain (東風雨) and Shanghai had been real people, they couldn't help but bump into each other. Set at the same time, in the same city (where it conveniently rains at moments of high drama), the two films are the flip-side of the same coin: Shanghai through western eyes, East Wind Rain through Chinese ones. The former is pulpier and more drenched in "exotic" atmosphere, while the latter has a more political plot and natural setting. Though East Wind is less hard-driven, both are equally entertaining on their own levels. Locally, East Wind plays into the whole fad for big-screen spy melodramas that The Message (風聲) reaped last autumn.

Freed from the need to explain historical background or the city's "orphan island" position to a Chinese audience, East Wind's script packs enough detail into its 112 minutes to fill a mini-series. Writer/producer Yang Jian (楊健) previously worked with actor/director Liu Yunlong (柳雲龍) on the 34-part TV drama Conspiracy (暗算, 2005), and his episodic screenplay, peppered with fade-outs, often seems like a super-condensed TV one. But East Wind does play like a big-screen movie, thanks to superb, wintry cinematography by Hong Kong veteran Arthur Wong (黃岳泰, Warlords 投名狀, Bodyguards and Assassins 十月圍城), terrific production design by Yi Zhenzhou (易振洲, Battle of Wits 墨攻) - especially the central nightclub, with its pool of synchro swimmers, and the rarely seen Jewish ghetto in which the two leads hide out - awesome CGI recreations of Shanghai cityscapes by Malaysian-born Foo Sing-choong (胡升中, Silk 詭絲, Sophie's Revenge 非常完美), and tight editing of the mobile, close-up camerawork by Hong Kong's Angie Lam (林安兒). The film's opening setpiece in a greyhound stadium - which reportedly took 20 days to shoot - gets the movie off to a punchy start, and is never quite equalled thereafter.

The labyrinthine plot, largely centred on the MacGuffin of a missing roll of film, takes some concentration to follow, and is largely an excuse to field a strong lineup of character actors in meaty roles. Some, like Ying Da's (英達) turncoat-for-hire and Hong Kong actor Kenneth Tsang's (曾江) gentleman power-broker, come into their own in the second half, while Takemoto Takayuki's (竹本孝之) cultured spymaster grows throughout the movie. Leads Liu Yunlong (making his debut as a feature-film director) and Fan Bingbing (范冰冰) move through the film on a separate star plane as tragic lovers caught up in the whirlwind of history, and both have a pulpy, romantic chemistry with each other.

With East Wind, Fan cements her position as China's youngest old-style diva, but her dialogue in scenes with Liu is too poetically flowery, with no real emotional pull. Dressed to the nines, she looks stunning throughout but is more credible as a nightclub singer than as the character she's later revealed to be. The supporting roles are more emotionally engaging, especially Li Xiaoran (李小冉) as a teacher-cum-spy and Yu Rongguang (于榮光) as a distrustful spy handler-cum-Beijing Opera performer (in a rare film reference to his actual roots).

The multilingual dialogue, which has large sections in Japanese, is let down by some embarrassing English bits; only Aires da Cruz, as a Jewish barman, plays in a way that sounds natural to native speakers. The movie is purportedly based on historical facts - that Communist spies knew in advance about the Pearl Harbor attack but thought the Americans would never believe them - but that's never allowed to get in the way of a good spy yarn.

Chala Mussaddi Office Office (2011)

In this movie Mussaddi Lal (Pankaj Kapoor) is a retired school teacher goes on a 3 month pilgrimage after his wife’s death. When he returns, he finds his pension has been stopped and the pension office has declared him dead. What follows is his endless struggle against the petty corruption in the government office where the infamous gang of five — Manoj Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Deven Bhojani, Hemant Pandey and Asawari Joshi — are determined to fleece him till the very end.

Movie Review: The drama has already gained immense popularity through the long-running television series Office Office and Mussaddi Lal’s archetypal common man has become a familiar figure in popular culture. In the celluloid version, Pankaj Kapoor once again proves what a fine actor he is as he carries forth the relentless struggle of the aam Indian against India’s endemic bribe culture and official apathy.

The retired school teacher wages a little war almost every day, be it getting his wife treated in a hospital, offering prayers for her salvation, undertaking a simple train journey or trying to prove he’s alive before a bunch of corrupt employees in a government office. But the inspirational part of the story lies in the fact that Mussaddi never gives up hope, nor does he succumb to the pressures of the system. There, before India Gate — where else — he vows to wage a lone battle against corruption and get his due by honest means.

The good news is Mussaddi isn’t alone anymore. The Anna brigade is firmly behind him.

Bubble Gum (2011)

Bubble Gum 2011 Hindi Movie Review:
Rating **

Right at the interval, the director came at the press show stating that his film Bubble Gum isn’t a children film meant for kids. It’s a film that will appeal to people of all age groups. However, the point remains that with no publicity or any sorts and no face value to the product, his message may fade away in no time. After repeated big budget, big star cast films gracing the cinema halls week on week comes this week that has only the small budget films making it to the theatres. One such among the others is Bubble Gum. Now whether this small film has content enough to pull the masses or not remains to be seen.

Set in the times of 1980s in Jamshedpur when there was no computer, internet chatting, long telephonic conversations, mobile, Bubble Gum is the story of Vedant (Sohail Lakhani), a boy who finding it difficult to deal with his teens. He falls head over heels for a colony girl Jenny (Apoorva Arora) but he also has his rival Ratan (Suraj Singh) who too has the hots for the same girl. During this time Vedant’s brother Vidhur (Delzad Hiravali) comes from his hostel to spend the holidays with his family. Vidhur is a deaf and mute teenager who tries really hard to build a bond with his unruly brother but Vedant considers Vidhur a liability and object of ridicule more than his brother. How the bond between the two brother increases and how Vedant wins over Jenny is what forms the rest of the story.

Bubble Gum definitely isn’t a children film. It talks of the times and challenges we all have gone through in our lives. The days when a small clash with a friend would mean the end of the world, when not getting pocket money was the biggest punishment or even the times when you starting looking at people of the opposite sex from a different viewpoint. Yes, these are the things that this film takes us through. Debutante director Sanjeevan Lal sets the mood of the film just right by establishing the times of the 80s in a small town when there were no Blackberry Messengers, no chat rooms, no Play stations and definitely no mobile phones. The situations he presents onscreen actually remind you of your adolescence. It even has the bitter-sweet clashes between siblings, between parents and children, between friends. It has people using the right accent, the film having the right setting, great detailing right from the type of telephone to the cooker to the parties celebrated by kids, to the love letters.

However, what Bubble Gum misses out on is the correct execution or as people call it, the midas touch. Courtesy a novice attempt, the film fails to establish an emotional connect in the situations when it needs the most. So you don’t feel empathetic for the deaf and mute child. Nor do you feel for the growing up challenges of Vedant. Instead of sticking to the plot and developing it, the director has his film going all over the place with varied situations needless. Had it been for a crisp editing, Bubble Gum could’ve been a delightful watch, but it fails even at that. Music of the film by multiple composers like Hanif Sheikh, Bapi and Tutul is disappointing. Sachin Khedekar and Tanvi Azmi as the parents of Vidhur and Vedant act very well. The two most sorted performances. Sohail delivers a decent performance while Delzad deserves a special mention. For a person deaf and dumb in real life, Delzad does an outstanding job.

To sum it up, Bubble Gum is a small film with a big heart but loses itself for amateurish efforts.

Warning (2011)

If there’s any film that can define unattainable lows it has to be Aagaah The Warning. It’s certainly not easy to make a good film; a lot of efforts are put into it. But it’s amusing to see the efforts put behind to make a cult bad film such as this.

Merging terrorism and horror, Warning is about a Jihadi Azaan Khan (Atul Kulkarni) who’s instilled with the fact that if he dies fighting for his nation he will go to heaven. So he takes up the task of attacking Mumbai and approaches the city via the sea route. The boat that they hijack belongs to an innocent boatman Ramsharan (Karan Razdan) who curses Azaan while dying. So whether it’s the curse of Ramsharan or his own wrong doings, Azaan turns into a spirit and keeps haunting the family of Ramsharan which includes his wife (Rituparna Sen Gupta), his mother (Ila Arun), father (Satish Kaushik) and his daughter (Jannat) only to convey a very important message. Now we cannot reveal that message and take away your fun. So dare to watch it yourself.

I understand that theirs a dearth of plots in horror genre in our nation. I also understand that yearning for which we derive “inspiration” from Korean or Hollywood cinema. But no reason can justify the crime committed by penning a story of Warning. The film is very conveniently divided into two parts, terrorism cum patriotism and horror so while you think of entering into a horror film, the initial first half cheats you with story meandering into terrorist attacks, training camps, jihaad blah blah blah. It’s the second half that has the spooky element with one of the most bizarre connections ever. It is shoddy, amateurish and increasingly annoying to be watching the wrong setting, wrong premise, wrong characterisation and worst still, wrong execution of the wrong doings for a good 2 hours. If there’s anything that’s worth looking out for in this film it surely would be the unintentional humour that you can opt for if you plan to have a gala time with your bunch of friends. But with the multiplex prices touching the sky, I cannot assure you that even this can be a reason good enough to watch this film.

To add to the agony you have the constant hamming of the actors where the director Karan Razdan himself tops the list. He stutters and hams as seen never before in Indian cinema. The effects are very vintage with even the Ramsay brothers doing it better. Music by Sachin Gupta only adds to the agony.

Gandhi to Hitler(2011)

Dear Friend Hitler (Hindi: प्रिय मित्र हिटलर) released in India as Gandhi to Hitler is a multilingual Indian drama film based on letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to the leader of the Nazi Party and Chancellor of Germany Adolf Hitler. The film, starring Raghubir Yadav as Adolf Hitler and Neha Dhupia as Eva Braun, is directed by debuting director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and produced by Anil Kumar Sharma under the production house Amrapali media vision. It is a first Indian film which featured the life of Hitler and perhaps the first which has adapted a foreign subject. The film's subject caused some controversies, but its promo was screened at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival where it received positive reviews. Film Business Asia quoted that "despite the provocative title, the film is not a tribute to the murderous Führer". The film is schedule to release on July 29, 2011 in India.

The film is set during World War II and centres around the letters written by Mahatma Gandhi (played by Avijit Dutt) to Adolf Hitler (Raghubir Yadav), and around the relationship of Hitler with his long-term lover Eva Braun (Neha Dhupia), whom he married in his final days in the Berlin bunker in which they died. The film depicts the difference between the ideologies of Gandhi and Hitler and establishes the superiority of Gandhism over Nazism.
